The slices are cut and polished from columns of amethyst developed millions of years inside amethyst geodes. Amethyst geodes,once gas pockets in hot boiling lava, were fluid silica founds it way inside , together with iron particles to give the purple colour,
When everything cooled off ,atoms and molecules, together with the available silica were trapped and formed the quartz crystals inside .
Now today and 50 million years or so ago amethyst geodes are mined from the very hard lava basalt, once boiling lava.
Larger slices as collectors items and let your goldsmith create a piece of exclusive jewellery from the smaller pieces.

Average slices are about 3 to 4 mm thick.
